I think what Banach means when he says "absolute individuals" is that we are all definite individuals that no one sees things we see or feel because we are all different. I agree but it makes me question if this absolutely true then when we connect with others, do we just imagine it? Because he says " Each of us is trapped within our own mind, unable to feel anything but our own feelings and experiences."
In the the first paragraph he asks what human freedom is, I think how us as human have freedom to have our own opinions, views , feelings, etc. Which make us all definite individuals because have the freedom to be different. He also asks what is human flourishing and human happiness, I think human flourishing is how we grow to become the person we are, the individual. Human happiness happens when we take our individuality seriously, because we accept that we all have different ways to think and feel so no one can fully understand anyone as well as themselves.
Some points I found strange were when he talked about the seat under your rear - end and then talks about if we really see people from inside and feel what they feel. But I hope that Banach is not right because if he is and we are completely alone then I am concerned. Because then everything we feel or connect with others is fake which would make life sad.

  1. Michelle,

I liked how you agreed with what Banach had to say about "absolute individuals" in his lecture and questioned it as the same time. You stated what he mentioned and then you stated what you thought. What stood out to me was what you said in response to Banach- "Banach is not right because if he is and we are completely alone then I am concerned. Because then everything we feel or connect with others is fake which would make life sad. I agree with you because even though we understand ourselves better than anyone else we are still able to feel/ have similar feelings which allows us to connect with each other. I think that maybe you could have tried to answer your question "when we connect with others, do we just imagine it?"
Maybe you could have proved or disproved him.

Your post got straight to the point of the first part of his lecture. Nice.
